For most of the day I'm very much a fly on the wall. Many couples often tell me afterwards that often they weren't aware when they were being photographed. Even when I have to set up shots I do this in a very relaxed way.

My approach is to encourage couples to be themselves and enjoy the moment. I'll help guide you through the day in an unobtrusive way, capturing all the special moments in a very relaxed natural way. I have over 25 years experience.

I actually started my career photographing professional theatre and opera for most of Scotland's leading companies. This allowed me to develop my skills in anticipating moments and perfectly framing my shots very quickly and quietly.

The best advice I could offer couples is to choose your suppliers well and then sit back and relax on the day. Part of my job as a photographer is to make sure I get all the key moments and help guide you through the day.

I love capturing people's expressions, whether that's smiles or nerves getting ready in the morning, anticipation of walking down the aisle or the thrill of coming back up the aisle as a married couple. For the photo-shoot with the couple, I'm looking for genuine moments, so although I've decided on the background and the lighting I just encourage you to have a quiet moment together while I take shots.

It's so hard to choose as I've done so many. Every wedding is unique and very couple is unique and I love capturing what makes them all special. One which stood out recently was when I was asked to photograph a wedding elopement. It was just me, the couple, the celebrant and her assistant by the side of a loch. As they needed an extra witness, I was also asked to be one of the witnesses. It was such a privilege to be part of such a special intimate moment.
