I am all about candid, natural, documentary style shots. I like to let the action happen around and I carefully observe and wait for those "magic moments". So I am very much a fly on the wall for most of the day. That said, there are times I need to take control and I'm happy to do that. For example, organising the large group family portraits, or making sure everyone is in the right place for your confetti shower, or just giving you two a gentle nudge to get the best photos - I'll do whatever I feel necessary to get the best shots throughout the day.

If you’re looking for a friendly wedding photographer to capture those candid, natural moments with a few relaxed portraits, I would love to be your guy! My work has been exhibited worldwide, shortlisted for the International Photography Awards and published in the New York Times. This is not for influencers! I won’t be spending an hour posing you to look like the latest Hollywood couple. I love to capture those unscripted, surprising, natural moments just as they happen. The kind of photos that you’ll look back on and say “yeah… that’s exactly what our wedding felt like”. Do I do group family shots? Of course! But I make sure that part is quick, fun and painless. How about some shots of the happy couple! Absolutely! I love that part of the day but I also know a lot of people worry about not feeling relaxing in front of the camera. Don't worry - I've got you. I make the portraits fun and relaxed so you two can get back to your guests and enjoy your day. So, no forced poses, no awkward moments and I won’t ask you to say “cheese”. I just want you two to enjoy the day to the max - and I’ll be there to photograph it.
My background is in street photography. My favourite photographer is Martin Parr who is the master at capturing funny, moving little moments that are so easy to miss or take for granted. I also love the work of William Klein, Vivian Maier and Chris Killip. But plenty of non photographers also inform my style. I love the warmth and humour of Peter Kay and Victoria Wood, the clean introspective beauty of Vilhelm Hammershøi, and the timeless romantic music of Ella Fitzgerald and Oscar Peterson. All these and more are somewhere in the back of my mind when I am taking photographs which, I hope are funny, warm, romantic and honest.
The most important thing for me is that you two are totally relaxed on the day and feel comfortable with me by your side. That's why I like to do a video call before the day to go over last minute details and just to make sure we "get" one another. If you're happy relaxed and comfortable, the pictures will be great! There are a few pointers I might give you on the day to help me get the best shots. For example, when you kiss during the ceremony, enjoy the moment and let it linger for just a second or two; or for your confetti, walk nice and slowly to give everyone a chance to shower you with flower petals (and love!). Other than that I'd say just ignore me and enjoy your day.
The most important thing for me when photographing a wedding is that my couple are totally relaxed and comfortable with me. If their happy I know the photos will look great.
Of course I love to capture the big moments: walking down the aisle, the first kiss, the confetti and so on but most of the day I am observing and waiting for those special moments that capture the joy and warmth of every wedding day. The subtle looks on faces, the children, the laughs and the (happy) tears. This is real life and all its beautiful glory. That's what I love to photograph.
My couples should know that they can totally relax with me as their photographer. I am very organised and like to get all the information I need ahead of the day so there are no surprises. I want you to know that you're in safe hands!
I can honestly say I have been blessed with wonderful couples to photograph. People always talk about "bridezillas" but all my couples have been lovely and many have become friends. I think my favourite wedding was for Amy and Richard. It rained just before the ceremony and in fact as Amy walked down the aisle it was thundering! But everyone took it in their stride and had a great day. The rain stopped for some lovely photos outside and later, by the marquee, the bride's side lost the tug-o-war and she was not in the least bothered her dress was covered in wet mud! It was a great day with lots of laughs - just as it should be. If nothing else a wedding is a great excuse for a party with friends and family.

If you're looking for natural photographs with minimal posing so you can just relax and enjoy your day, let's have a chat. My main concern is that you are relaxed, happy and totally comfortable with me by your side for this most special of days. There’s a bit of stigma amongst photographers that wedding photography is trivial, boring and repetitive. I completely reject that. I know it sounds like a line from a sales brochure, but for me it really is a huge privilege to be entrusted by a couple to photograph their wedding. I love it and I have a lot of fun doing it, but make no mistake, I take it very seriously. Wedding photography might not be as “cool” as fashion photography but it’s way more important. It’s about real life and making memories with the people you love. It matters.
