During the initial pre-wedding calls, I can gauge what the couple wants, so I can adapt from fly-on-the-wall to fully taking charge of the direction of the day. Being a wedding photographer is really lonely working solo all day, so I will never turn my back on a good conversation with a relative. But I understand that some of the best images turn out to be the ones that happen when people don't know that I'm even in the same room.
I am an award-winning photographer with multiple awards in this industry, but I don't really like to use this in my marketing. I prefer to let the images speak for themselves. I am only here to create timeless memories and make your day go as smoothly as possible. I have also had work published and self-published a few books myself, both of which are nothing to do with weddings. But it gives you an insight into how much experience I have.
Having had 7 years in the wedding photography industry, I have adapted my style and approach to suit each couple. I've worked with couples who love to be in front of the camera, and couples who just want a photographer there to document the day. Usually, I have 2-3 calls beforehand to discuss the day in detail, and during this time, we can make the perfect plan together.
My main artistic influence is fellow photographer Vivian Maier. Her work is renowned for its unique and candid style, capturing everyday life and street scenes authentically and without posing. A true documentary photographer, her style and approach match the same as my own work. This style of photography goes hand in hand with the work I do at weddings, even though she never photographed a wedding in her lifetime (that I know of). Her approach and dedication to the adaptation of photography from the 1950s right through to the 1970s, and the body of her work mostly unpublished, proves how vital she was to the photography industry in general. I also believe it's good to have influences in the field of work that you're in so that your work/business thrives. There are a few wedding photographers out there that I look up to, but the main one is a guy called Sam Docker. His work is at the very top. It's healthy to have photographers who are doing things slightly better than yourself, as this helps you to develop your skills.
What I do so that couples can get the most out of their day is I hold 2-3 pre-wedding calls and build a solid plan of the day together. The first is just to get to know each other, and it gives me a little insight into how the day will pan out. The final call will be held just a few weeks before the wedding, as in my experiences, a lot can change even right up until the day of the wedding. In between calls, I ask couples to send me as much wedding inspiration as possible - pictures they have seen online to try and recreate, styles of editing they like, and even I recommend vendors that I have worked with that I trust when they haven't managed to find the right vendor for themselves. I could be a wedding planner myself with the amount of experience I have had, lol.
For me, it is the relationship you have with a couple. Through the whole process, it's about being transparent and making sure you deliver the service for which you got hired. Delivering images of the highest quality.
The moments I am looking to capture are the real, natural, unposed moments that you can't plan for. The crying, the laughter, the raw emotions of the wedding day—these are the moments I am always looking out for. With my cameras firmly in hand for 10+ hours a day, they are moments that I will never miss.
To this day, my favorite wedding that I have shot is the first one I did—my mum's. Not only did this give me the opportunity to start a career, but it also provided me with the experience I needed to understand what the industry was like. Although it was a family member's wedding, you might think the pressure of getting it right wasn't as much as if it were your wedding I was photographing. That's not true; it was 100 times more pressure. It was a very rare opportunity to start a business from photography and to quit everything I do to pursue something I love as a job.

You should choose me as your wedding photographer because I am relaxed and I go with the flow of the day. Even though I make a structured plan of the day, weddings, as we all know, can go a little off-piste in terms of timings, etc. I am available 24/7 for any questions you have and will get back to you as soon as possible with an answer. I'm here to make you feel relaxed and to create amazing images for you and your loved ones to look back upon for the rest of your lives.
