Please be aware that whilst entirely authentic, Humanist weddings are not yet legally binding in England and Wales (they are legal in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Jersey and Guernsey). You will need to arrange a separate civil marriage with a registrar to formalise the process.
As an accredited Humanists UK wedding celebrant, a celebration of love and life is at the heart of my ceremonies. Whilst they are typically non-religious ceremonies, they are also entirely inclusive to all and I am very happy to discuss how different cultures, beliefs and traditions can be incorporated. There is an endless list of ideas and symbolic elements that can be weaved into your ceremony and I come armed with a wealth of suggestions, should you require it, as well as guidance on how to write and structure personalised wedding vows (a favourite detail of mine!).
There is so much to love about being a wedding celebrant, from meeting new people, hearing about their journeys right through to celebrating their union on the big day. I particularly love how every wedding ceremony is so different and unique and being a part of the creation process, crafting something really special, is a true privilege.
I've been lucky enough to visit and conduct ceremonies in a wide range of diverse venues, from Air bnb gardens and farm fields to city centre urban spaces and countryside barn conversions. A few of my favourite venues from this year include The Old Library (Digbeth, Birmingham), Hazel Gap Barn (Nottinghamshire), The Old Vicarage (North Nottinghamshire), Cockliffe Country House (Nottingham) and The Cosy Club (Nottingham). Every venue I've worked at has been used to reflect the couple's vibe perfectly and I like to arrive in plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere of each place.
